Digestive problems

Digestion is an intricate process of turning the food consumed into useful energy. It is a very significant step in the human metabolic process. Any problem with this process can result in metabolic imbalance. These problems affect the quality of life. Various factors can contribute to such a disorder. Excessive mental stress, improper consumption of stimulants like coffee, tea and alcohol at irregular time intervals and sedentary life style have made digestive disorders like acidity a part of daily routine.

Stomach Ulcer

It happens when portions of Gastric Mucosa get eroded on contact with gastric juice. Excessive bile secretion or irritants can result in such a disorder. Gastric ulcer is profoundly present in people in the age group of 50-60. It is noted that people having blood group O have more chances of getting this disease. Some of the causes are as follows:

  • Helicobacter pylori: One of the most etiological reasons of this disease is the presence of microaerophilic bacterium. 70% of gastric/stomach ulcers are caused by this bacterium.
  • Increased hydrochloric acid secretion: This provides a suitable environment for the growth of helicobacter pylori.
  • Continuous usage of NSAIDS (Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs): Drugs such as ibuprofen and aspirin fall into this category.
  • Bad habits like drinking alcohol, smoking etc.

pageGastric ulcer, being a constitutional disease requires treatment for the body constitution. Therefore, homoeopathic treatment for ulcer is rather a relatively long term process.

Homoeopathic Treatment

Homoeopathy can also assist in preventing any ulcer complications. It also avoids recurrence of the disease and lead to general resistance.

Some of the drugs used are Bismuth, Lycopodium, Nux vomica, Robinia, Anacardium etc. Bismuth can be used for a pain extending to the spine. One can also take Bismuth when the consumed food is retained for long intervals. Lycopodium may be prescribed for patients experiencing bitter taste and for those who have a sensation of pressure in the stomach after eating. Even a very little consumption feels to be that of a full belly. Nux vomica is administered when there is a feeling of nausea after eating or in the morning. Additionally, proton pump inhibitors (PPI) are also recommended for situation where the ulcer is caused by NSAID but does not have h.pylori infection.
