It is an acute disorder leading to inflammation in bronchial tubes. This makes the air passage to narrow and hence results in difficult breathing. There are 2 broad classifications for Asthma: extrinsic and intrinsic asthma. Asthma that is triggered by foreign factors like allergens is called extrinsic asthma. Asthma can also happen even with the absence of allergens. This category is referred to as intrinsic asthma. Skin tests remain negative while detecting asthma of such a kind.

Asthma symptoms are very well pronounced. The major ones are described below:

  • Murmuring sounds: They are whistling sounds that are caused due to bronchi shrinkage.
  • Breathing difficulty: It is called dyspnoea. Dyspnoea results in the feeling of intense pressure in the chest and associated breathing difficulty.
  • Severe cough: The symptom is severe in asthmatic patients. It mostly occurs during night hours and in early morning hours.

Homeopathic Treatment

Appropriate homoeopathic treatment at the right dosage and at right time can cure this disease. Known allergens like dust, pollen etc and respiratory irritants like tobacco smoke are prevented from causing an imbalance. The use of medicines controls inflammation of the airway. Some of the medicines administered include:

  • Arsenicum Album: This is prescribed when the asthmatic condition worsens. Worsening can come on exposure to bad weather, cool drinks etc.
  • Bryonica Alba: The medicine is used when the patient has a dry mouth and a dry mucus membrane. There is a frequent feeling of thirst.
  • Natrum Sulphuricum: This medication is suitable for situations when the patient's condition aggravates on increased humidity.
  • Nux Vomica: It is very useful for those asthmatic patients with digestive complaints.
